Organ-fueled proto-rock alchemists MOUNDRAG return with their epic new single Black Flames, now streaming worldwide. The track paves the way for the French duo’s highly anticipated sophomore album DEUX, set for release October 17th through Spinda Records (LP/CD) and Stolen Body Records (LP).

Inspired by visions of firelit rituals in Armorica’s Black Mountains, Black Flames channels a brooding energy that blends doom-laden atmospherics with vintage heaviness. The Hammond organ rumbles like a demon trapped beneath stone, while Colin Goellaen Duvivier’s drumming marches with the weight of a funeral procession. The result is a ritualistic hymn, conjuring both the spirit of 70s heavy rock and a chilling allegory for war and unchecked power.
“The world is burning, the weak are consumed, and in the shadows, something awaits. Something that feeds on flames…” the band warns.
While rooted in the tradition of Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, King Crimson and other forefathers, Moundrag push their organ-and-drum dynamic into uncharted realms. Their forthcoming album DEUX is not a mere nostalgia trip but a fiercely modern manifesto, weaving dystopian fantasy, Celtic myth, and sci-fi imagery into lyrics that dismantle archaic norms and envision a freer, fairer world.
From hard-hitting anthems to psychedelic crescendos and introspective passages, DEUX captures the duo’s raw power and narrative ambition at a higher level than ever before. The album’s surrealist cover art, painted by Justyna Kozikzak, interprets Dante’s Divine Comedy through modern eyes, serving as both confrontation and reflection of inevitable change.
Formed in 2019 by brothers Camille (organ, vocals) and Colin Goellaen Duvivier (drums, vocals), Moundrag have carved their own niche in the heavy rock underground — proving you don’t need guitars to make monumental rock ‘n’ roll. Their debut EP (2019) and first full-length Hic Sunt Moundrages (2022) set the stage with a unique blend of progressive rhythms, kaleidoscopic harmonies, and organ-driven ferocity. With DEUX, the duo sharpen their sound into something more expansive, cinematic, and uncompromisingly their own.
