Blackbriar Unveils A Thousand Little Deaths, Out August 22 via Nuclear Blast

Dutch symphonic/gothic metal band Blackbriar is set to release their third full-length album, A Thousand Little Deaths, on August 22, 2025, through Nuclear Blast Records. Following a landmark 2024 with their first North American tour and performances at Wacken, Summer Breeze, and a European run supporting Kamelot, the Assen-based quintet is poised to elevate their darkly poetic sound. The album, produced by longtime collaborator Joost van den Broek (Epica, Within Temptation) at Sandlane Recording Facilities—a studio tied to the band’s creative roots—promises a deeper, more immersive experience. It will be available on limited colored vinyl (including 500 Bluebeard Blue and 500 “Green Light across the Bay” Green units), CD digipack, and digital formats. Pre-order now at store.blackbriarmusic.com, where fans can also secure exclusive bundles, signed items, and a chance to have their name in the album booklet.

To mark the pre-order launch, Blackbriar has dropped the lead single “The Fossilized Widow,” a haunting track with a cinematic video, streaming on YouTube. The song sets the tone for the album’s gothic and Victorian vibes, exploring mortality through Zora Cock’s evocative lyrics and ethereal vocals, paired with the band’s signature symphonic metal sound. A second single, “I Buried Us,” was released on March 20, with its video available on YouTube, further teasing the album’s emotional depth.

A Thousand Little Deaths features 10 tracks that weave a “secret, personal red thread” through themes of love, loss, and death, as noted by vocalist Zora Cock, who drew inspiration from recurring motifs of mortality during the writing process. The album includes a 24-page booklet with artwork, lyrics, and a thank-you to pre-order backers. Fans can also grab unique collector’s items, like a Victorian-style mourning dress worn by Zora in an upcoming video or a signed snare drum head from the recording sessions.

Tracklist (to be announced soon): 10 original tracks, with confirmed songs including “The Fossilized Widow” and “I Buried Us.”

Formed in 2012 by Zora Cock, René Boxem, Bart Winters, and Frank Akkerman, Blackbriar—now featuring Robin Koezen (guitars) and Ruben Wijga (keys)—has built a global following, with over 61 million YouTube views and 46 million Spotify streams. After 2023’s A Dark Euphony and tours with Epica, Halestorm, and Delain, the band is ready to captivate with their most cinematic chapter yet. For fans of Nightwish, Within Temptation, and/or Evanescence, A Thousand Little Deaths is a must-hear. Stream “The Fossilized Widow,” pre-order now, and dive into Blackbriar’s whimsical darkness!
