Second 2026 LP Arrives June 5th
You feel it before you hear it. And once it hits, you can’t unhear it.
A low, persistent frequency—throbbing somewhere between 30 and 40 hertz—has been reported across the globe, from Ipswich, Massachusetts to Auckland, New Zealand, and Windsor, Ontario. It’s haunted residents of Taos, New Mexico for decades. Not everyone can hear it. No one can explain it. They call it The Hum.
Converge take that eerie real-world phenomenon and twist it into something far more visceral: a manifestation of collective human suffering.
“What if ‘The Hum’ is the culmination of all the pain in the world, creating an audible signal across the universe?” asks vocalist and lyricist Jacob Bannon. “Something noticeable to others operating on a similar emotional plane.”
That concept fuels Hum of Hurt, the band’s second full-length of 2026, arriving June 5th. A companion to Love Is Not Enough, the record continues Converge’s bleak yet deeply empathetic exploration of the human condition—this time with an even more stripped-down, exposed intensity.
“When we came together to write, we ended up with a wealth of material,” Bannon explains. “As work progressed, we realized we had created two distinct albums—and treated them as such.”
The latest single, “Doom In Bloom,” captures that raw immediacy in full force. Kurt Ballou’s jagged, abrasive riffs collide with Nate Newton’s punishing basslines and Ben Koller’s relentless drumming, while Bannon sounds like he’s tearing his voice apart with every line.

“It’s dark and pointed right at you,” he says. “Lyrically, I’m exploring how my own middle-aged introspection doesn’t always bring clarity or light. I see my own trappings reflected in those around me. Here I am, imploring them to slip the noose—to see another day.“
Hum of Hurt was recorded and mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City Studio in Salem, Massachusetts, with engineering assistance from Zach Weeks. For the album artwork, Bannon collaborated with UK artist Thomas Hooper to bring a striking conceptual vision to life.
“For the cover, I imagined an EKG signal merging with volatile seismography—an amalgamation representing the conditions that could theoretically create ‘The Hum,’” Bannon explains. “A heartbeat skipping, dissolving into static, interrupted by a seismic rupture at its core.”
The artwork expands further into symbolism, depicting the five classical elements—Pancha Bhuta: Prithvi (Earth), Ap (Water), Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air), and Akasha (Aether)—entangled in chaos, as if even the natural world is caught within the Hum of Hurt.
Pre-orders for Hum of Hurt are available now. Converge will also hit the road this spring and summer for a run of North American and European dates.
