Danheim Announces New Album Heimferd

Copenhagen-based producer Reidar Schæfer Olsen, better known as Danheim, has announced his new full-length album Heimferd, set for release through Season of Mist.

With its rune-etched title, resonant percussion, and expansive drones, Heimferd continues Danheim’s distinctive evolution through a Nordic sound world steeped in mythology, ancestry, and atmosphere. Rather than telling a strict mythological tale, the album unfolds as a mood-driven journey—balancing visceral force with ambient restraint.

From the storm-ridden rhythms of Stormdans to the meditative sprawl of Yggdrasil II, Olsen crafts soundscapes that blur the line between ritual and modern resonance. Speaking about the essence of the new record, Olsen shares:

“For me, Heimferd is a journey home, not to a physical place, but to my ancestry, honoring the weight of old paths while also forging new ones.

Heimferd will be released in CD, vinyl, and digital formats via Season of Mist. With more than one billion streams and a rapidly expanding global audience, Danheim continues to solidify his role as one of the defining voices in Viking-inspired folk music.
