On the theme of Spoil Me, the band comments:
“When our love fades and warmth turns to a winter frost, despair whispers: ‘Take what you crave…’ But every taste of pleasure is a double-edged sword – salvation and pain, bound together as one.”
Speaking about the creation of the album, Unén reflects:
“‘Forever Winter’ began to take shape in spring 2023, marking a turning point with the arrival of our lead vocalist, Stina Girs. Her passion and emotional depth brought our material to life. Musically, the record shifts between driving melodic rock, cinematic progressive metal, and haunting stillness – all tied together by Stina’s powerful, expressive voice.”
They add:
“Lyrically, Forever Winter is deeply personal. Stina poured her own experiences into every track, transforming pain into melody and storytelling. It’s a journey of catharsis, resilience, and rebirth – and we couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve created.”
Formed in Helsinki in late 2021, Unén blend melodic metal with elements of progressive and pop, shaping a sound that balances intensity with sensitivity. The band initially released two self-published songs in 2022, before a lineup shift in early 2023 accelerated their vision with the arrival of Stina Girs – known to Finnish audiences for her success on Idols (2010) and two Finnish-language solo albums under Sony Finland.
Taking inspiration from bands like Evanescence while carving out their own path, Unén now stand poised to make their mark internationally with Forever Winter.
