The signing marks a new creative partnership for SKÁLD, who describe the collaboration as a natural evolution of their vision. Napalm Records also praised the band’s unique ability to bring Nordic folklore and mythology to life through immersive, cinematic folk music.
A Journey Into ØRLǪG
ØRLǪG represents SKÁLD’s most ambitious work to date, drawing inspiration from Skaldic poetry and Norse mythology. The album explores themes of fate, destiny, and consequence through the concept of “Ørlǫg” — the cosmic web that shapes all existence.
The band describe the album as a reflection on how choices, both individual and collective, influence the future, while still leaving space for growth, change, and self-determination.
“Draumakona” — The First Single
The lead single “Draumakona” introduces the album’s atmospheric world through a focus on dream interpretation and feminine shamanic prophecy. The track blends layered vocal harmonies, Nordic instrumentation, and ritualistic rhythmic structures to create an immersive folk soundscape.
According to SKÁLD, the song explores the role of women in divination and prophecy, drawing inspiration from the Norns and the idea that destiny is both revealed and self-discovered through introspection and dreams.
SKÁLD are known for their distinctive approach to Nordic-inspired folk music, using historical instrumentation such as harps, lyres, fiddles, horns, and traditional percussion alongside layered vocal arrangements. Their music blends ancient aesthetics with modern production to create an atmospheric, ritualistic listening experience.
