Gaupa Release New Mini Album Fyr Today, July 4, 2025

Swedish heavy stoner band Gaupa drop their new mini album Fyr today, July 4, 2025, via Magnetic Eye Records. Meaning “four,” “beacon,” or “lighthouse” in Swedish, the release marks the band’s fourth offering and features five tracks, plus a bonus track on the physical edition not included digitally. Available for purchase at lnk.spkr.media/gaupa-fyr in black & white marbled vinyl LP, white vinyl LP, and Digisleeve CD formats, Fyr showcases their heaviest material yet with a grittier sound engineered by Karl Daniel Lidén.

Following guitarist Daniel Nygren’s 2024 departure, Gaupa—Emma Näslund (vocals), Jimmy Hurtig (drums), Erik Jerka Sävström (bass), and David Zol Rosberg (guitars)—embraced a “big turning point,” revamping their writing process with new studios and crew. Inspired by Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Word for World Is Forest, Näslund’s lyrics explore time and reality, complementing the band’s spellbinding intricacy, tripped-out verses, and hard stoner riffs.

The tracklist includes:

  1. Lion’s Thorn (feat. Adrian Dal Cero on bagpipe)
  2. Heavy Lord
  3. Ten of Twelve
  4. Elastic Sleep
  5. Sömnen / Febersvan (Live at Monkey Moon Studios, 2023)
    (Bonus track on physical release)

Recorded by György Barocsai (drums, bass) at Svenska Grammofonstudion, Göteborg, and by Rosberg, Näslund, and Erik Ståhlberg (vocals, guitars, bagpipes) at Estethuset studios and Emma’s shed, Falun, the album features cover artwork by Kutlayus and layout by David Åhrström. Building on the success of Feberdröm (2020) and Myriad (2022)—with Exoskeleton surpassing a million Spotify streams and Febersvan nearing 4 million—Gaupa have performed at Wacken Open Air, Hellfest, and toured with Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats.
