Leeds-based dark folk act GREET, the evocative project of Matthew Broadley, announces the release of their debut full-length album I Know How To Die, arriving October 17th, 2025 via Fiadh Productions (US). Alongside the announcement, GREET has unveiled a stunning new video for the track The Leather Knight, now streaming.
Blurring the boundaries between traditional folk, drone, and cinematic soundscapes, I Know How To Die channels the untamed beauty of Yorkshire’s landscapes into a sound that is both ethereal and elemental. Built on harmonium drones, pounding percussion, and spectral vocals, GREET’s music inhabits the space between the mortal and the mythic, conjuring realms of battlefields, taverns, and haunted forests.
“I know how to die,
Yet I am here still, battle worn,
My purpose not fulfilled.
A song is calling and still,
I am here.”
The album was written and self-recorded by Broadley in his Leeds home over the early months of 2025, with contributions from Simon Barr (violin on “Eulogy”) and Steve Von Till (poem reading on “Keening”). It was mixed and mastered by David Campbell, with photography by Richard Newby completing the album’s haunting visual identity.
Since emerging in 2024 with Harmonium I and Harmonium II, GREET has steadily built a reputation for transporting live performances alongside One Leg One Eye, Steve Von Till, and Ora Cogan, with an appearance at Roadburn 2025 cementing their growing cult following.
