Danish symphonic death metal band Lamentari has released their powerful new single, “VENIA”, accompanied by a visualizer crafted by Moshmallows. Mastered by Stefano Morabito at 16th Cellar Studio, the track delivers a chilling blend of melodic death metal, symphonic grandeur, and blackened aggression, exploring themes of sorrow, isolation, and eternal rest disturbed by external forces.
The lyrics, paint a vivid narrative of a tormented soul seeking solace in darkness, only to be pulled back by a disruptive voice and glowing “opal eyes.” Lines like “In shadows embrace I found a peace to all my sorrows” and “My name is to be forgotten” underscore the protagonist’s desire for oblivion, while the rising flame and shining light symbolize an unwanted awakening. The song’s emotional weight is amplified by its dynamic composition, shifting from mournful melodies to crushing riffs and orchestral flourishes.

Formed in Denmark, Lamentari—consisting of Morten Iversen (vocals), Mikkel Bebe (guitar), Simon Borup Olsen (guitar), Mathias Rønde Lund (bass), Mads Høeg (drums), and Niels Kaas (keyboards)—is known for their cinematic approach to extreme metal. Their debut album Masquerade of Sorrow (2022) and subsequent EPs Cult of the Lamentari (2023) and Ex Umbra in Lucem (2024) earned praise for blending Dimmu Borgir-esque symphonic elements with the ferocity of Necrofrost and Behemoth’s intensity. “VENIA” signals their continued evolution, potentially previewing a new full-length album expected in 2025 or 2026.
