Atlanta progressive metal legends Mastodon have announced a major North American tour with support from atmospheric band Deafheaven and French post-black metal act Alcest, coinciding with the release of their new single “Your Ghost Again.”
The tour marks one of Mastodon’s most stylistically diverse live packages to date, pairing the band’s progressive, riff-driven heaviness with Deafheaven’s expansive emotional intensity and Alcest’s ethereal, dreamlike soundscapes.
The run will begin September 16 in Orlando, Florida, and continue across North America before concluding October 24 in Dallas, Texas. Tickets go on sale Friday.
The announcement follows the release of “Your Ghost Again,” a deeply personal track for vocalist and drummer Brann Dailor, who described the song as being shaped by grief and lingering memory.
“The song is about when you lose somebody that’s close to you that you existed with for most of your life,” Dailor said. “When we were in the studio recording, I kept seeing Brent. I’d see him on my right holding the guitar because that’s where he’d usually be. It’s the same with my mom. I keep seeing her. I was just singing about what I was seeing, and I was seeing ghosts.”
The emotional weight of the single sets the tone for what is expected to be a powerful live experience across the upcoming tour.
