Megadeth Release New Single “Tipping Point,” Final Studio Album Due January

Thrash metal band Megadeth have released Tipping Point, the lead single from their forthcoming and final studio album. The self-titled record, their seventeenth and last, arrives January 23, 2026 via BLKIIBLK.

Listen to Tipping Point here:

The new track is a snarling showcase of Megadeth’s enduring mastery of speed, technicality, and biting social commentary — a reminder of why the band has remained a pillar of thrash metal for more than four decades.

The album, produced once again by Chris Rakestraw (who also helmed The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! and Dystopia), promises to close out Megadeth’s legendary discography on a high note.

Back in August, frontman Dave Mustaine confirmed that the upcoming album would be Megadeth’s last, accompanied by an extensive global farewell tour in 2026.

“Most musicians don’t get to go out on their own terms,” Mustaine shared. “I’ve traveled the world, made millions of fans, and the hardest part is saying goodbye. Don’t be mad, don’t be sad—be happy for us. Come celebrate these next few years. We started a musical style, we started a revolution, we changed the guitar world and the world itself.”

Alongside the new music, Mustaine also revealed that he is preparing a new memoir, with more details expected soon.

Before embarking on their farewell run, Megadeth are currently serving as special guests on Disturbed’s “The Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour” across the UK and EU this fall.

The Lineup

Megadeth’s final album and tour will feature:

  • Dave Mustaine — Vocals, Guitar
  • Teemu Mäntysaari — Guitar
  • James LoMenzo — Bass
  • Dirk Verbeuren — Drums

From their 1985 debut Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good! through landmark albums like Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?, Rust in Peace, and Countdown to Extinction, Megadeth helped define the thrash movement as one of the “Big Four.” Over the years, they’ve earned a Grammy, multiple platinum records, and a reputation as one of metal’s most technically innovative and uncompromising bands.

Now, with Megadeth (2026), the band is set to bring their story full circle, leaving fans with one last monumental record before taking their riffs to stages around the globe one final time.
