MEGADETH Releases New Single And Video For “I Don’t Care” From Their January 2026 Self-Titled Album

Megadeth continues the march toward their highly anticipated final studio album with the release of their new single and video “I Don’t Care”, out last Friday, November 14. The video, directed by Keith J Leman, blends skate culture visuals with high-energy performance footage from the legendary metal quartet. Watch it here:

Frontman Dave Mustaine describes the track as an anthem of unapologetic honesty, saying, “How many times have you wanted to say this to someone? I know you want to! Deep down inside, if we had the balls, we would tell more people, ‘I don’t care’ more often.”

On the musical side, Mustaine adds, “Part of the main riff in this track had been floating around in my head since we did TSTD&TD, so I was pumped to start recording ‘I Don’t Care’ for this LP. I really love the guitar nuances in the track. There is the main rhythm riff, next a very deliberate down-picking part, next the octave chords with jump picking on octave notes while still down-picking. And the soloing and back and forth between me and Teemu is magnificent.”

Megadeth’s current lineup features Dave Mustaine, Teemu Mäntysaari on lead, rhythm, and acoustic guitars, James LoMenzo on bass, and Dirk Verbeuren on drums. Their upcoming self-titled record arrives in January 2026 and includes a notable bonus track: a newly reimagined version of “Ride The Lightning”, originally co-written by Mustaine alongside James Hetfield, Cliff Burton, and Lars Ulrich.

“I Don’t Care” follows the album’s first single, “Tipping Point”, an explosive track paired with a stark and symbolic video directed by Leonardo Liberti. The video depicts Mustaine imprisoned and tortured, while the band plays within the same decaying structure. In the closing moments, Mustaine overcomes the darkness and steps into a new beginning.

“We all have different tipping points and they may vary from day to day”, Mustaine said. “I think we’re all being pushed to the edge right now, and it’s easy to lean into that feeling. But it is important not to let things get you down.”

The new album is available for pre-order now.
