Composer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist MYRKUR (Amalie Bruun) has unveiled her haunting new single “Touch My Love And Die”, a dark, cinematic ballad that will compete at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix on February 14. The winning entry will go on to represent Denmark at Eurovision 2026, set to take place in Vienna, Austria this May.
More ritual than conventional pop song, “Touch My Love And Die” exists in the space between shadow and flame, where vulnerability, myth, and raw emotion intertwine. Drawing from Nordic folklore, gothic romance, and film-score grandeur, the track merges elements of metal, Scandinavian folk music, and orchestral composition into a deeply human soundscape. Recorded in Dolby Atmos with live musicians, the song features cello, a girls’ choir, ancient folk instruments, and drums captured with over forty microphones—an intentional rejection of artificiality in favor of physical presence and emotional weight.
Lyrically, the song inhabits a supernatural realm where love is both salvation and danger. It unfolds like a spell or a warning, a kiss that carries both devotion and destruction. MYRKUR leaves the meaning deliberately open, inviting listeners to interpret the imagery through their own inner landscapes.
Recorded in winter 2025 alongside Christopher Juul (Heilung), “Touch My Love And Die” marks a culmination of profound personal and artistic transformation for Bruun. She describes the song as a vessel into which “heart, soul, blood, and tears” were poured, created as an antidote to an increasingly AI-driven, disposable culture and as a reminder of humanity’s shared roots, spirit, and resilience.
Commissioned by Danish broadcaster DR, MYRKUR’s entry into Dansk Melodi Grand Prix stands apart for its willingness to embrace darkness rather than soften it. Should the song claim victory, it will carry this uncompromising vision onto the Eurovision stage in 2026.
Under the MYRKUR name, Amalie Bruun has built a singular artistic universe across four albums, multiple EPs, and large-scale theatrical works—bridging black metal, Scandinavian folk traditions, and cinematic composition. From M (2015) and Mareridt (2017) through Folkesange (2020) and Spine (2023), her work consistently navigates the boundary between brutality and beauty. Her experience composing for film and stage, including Vikings: Valhalla and Ragnarok at The Royal Danish Theatre, further informs the sweeping narrative scope heard in “Touch My Love And Die.”

With this release, MYRKUR does not seek to conform, she opens a space where darkness can speak, and in doing so, illuminate.
