European progressive metal quintet Philosophobia will release their second album, The Constant Void, on July 11, 2025, through Sensory Records. Formed in 2020, the band—featuring members from Germany, The Netherlands, and Greece, including past and present musicians from Kamelot, Paul Di’Anno, and Wastefall—follows up their acclaimed 2022 self-titled debut, which earned 10/10 reviews and Album of the Month in France’s Rock Hard. The new album, spanning nine tracks and nearly 65 minutes, blends progressive metal with emotional, melancholic tones, adding a heavier, modern edge.

The lineup includes Domenik Papaemmanouil (vocals), Andreas Ballnus (guitars/keys), Alex Landenburg (drums), Tobias Wergerber (keys), and new bassist Sebastian Heuckmann, replacing Kristoffer Gildenlöw. Recorded at SU2 Studios in Germany by Phil Hillen, with artwork by Björn Gooßes of Killustrations and photography by MaJ Music, the album features guest contributions like a keyboard solo by Vikram Shankar on “F 40.8” and a spoken word passage by Rob Leland in the 20-minute closer “The Forgotten Part II.”

The lead single, “King Of Fools,” dropped yesterday, May 12, with a video directed by Papaemmanouil and Ballnus, showcasing the band’s signature mix of heavy metal power, intricate guitar-key interplay, and dynamic vocals ranging from growls to melodic highs. Lyrically, it critiques societal issues like misguided leadership and division, with Ballnus noting, “The gap between us humans has become a void. And this void is a constant one.” For prog metal enthusiasts, this release looks promising. Pre-orders are live at The Lasers Edge webshop and Bandcamp, with more content expected before launch.
