New York alternative metal veterans PRONG have unleashed their explosive new single “Fear The Sun,” offering another taste of the band’s forthcoming self-titled album, Prong, due November 6 via Napalm Records.
The album marks PRONG’s debut for Napalm Records and finds the band drawing directly from the combination of thrash, groove metal, hardcore, industrial textures, and melody that has defined their sound throughout their career.
On “Fear The Sun,” PRONG lean heavily into their New York roots, delivering a compact, aggressive track built around the groove-driven approach the band helped establish decades ago.
Frontman Tommy Victor explains:
“I think we went back into time on this song. It’s a modernized version of the groove metal basics PRONG laid a foundation for back with Beg To Differ. Lyrically, ‘Fear The Sun’ reflects upon living with no seasonal changes, metaphorically.”

The forthcoming Prong serves as something of a mission statement for the band, pulling together the different elements that have shaped their catalog while continuing to push their sound forward.
Opening track “The Banner” moves between blistering thrash passages and expansive choruses before “New Commission” pushes the intensity further. “The Uprising” brings PRONG’s industrial side back into focus with textured synths layered over a driving rhythm, while “Uncertain Truth” shifts toward a more melodic approach.
“Fear The Sun” brings the record back into punishing territory with a groove designed around the energy of New York hardcore. Elsewhere, Victor takes center stage on “Proportionate Response,” while the rapid attack of “Simulated Drowning” drives the album toward its finale.
Closing track “Our Continuance” finishes the record with a methodical pulse, discordant breakdowns, and a melodic chorus reinforced by swelling synth textures.
Mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap, Prong pairs the band’s heavy rhythmic attack with lyrics exploring subjects including truth, personal limitations, retaliation, and altruism.

Following the album’s November 6 release, PRONG will return to the road for the PRONG Uprising European Tour 2026, which kicks off November 13.
