Technical thrash metal band Species, formed in 2018 in Warsaw, Poland, premiered their new single The Essence on August 1, 2025, on YouTube, from their second album Changelings, set for release on September 19, 2025, via 20 Buck Spin. The video, produced by Astral Films Studio with visual effects by Sławek Wojnicki, pays tribute to ‘70s-style live performances. Stream the single on YouTube or species1.bandcamp.com.

Produced by Species and Filip Pągowski, drums were recorded at Nebula Studio by Tomasz Stołowski, with guitars, bass, and vocals at No Stress Studio. Mastered by Damian Herring at Subterranean Watchtower Studios, the album features artwork by Aleksandra Pawłowska. The lineup includes Piotr Drobina (bass, vocals), Przemysław Hampelski (drums, percussion), and Michał Kępka (guitars). Species supports Dark Angel in August 2025.
