Ethereal folk duo TABERNIS have unveiled their haunting new single “Apes Saltis”, the final preview of their debut album Seasons of the Dark Hive, out April 24 via Napalm Records.
Serving as the album’s closing track, “Apes Saltis” blends medieval instrumentation with dark, immersive atmospheres. The duo describes the song as a festive yet ritualistic piece centered around the harvest season—“The Beekeepers fade away, but their song remains. Join the Dark Hive.”
Driven by bagpipes and davul, TABERNIS craft a transportive sound rooted in ancient traditions and mysticism. Seasons of the Dark Hive expands on their debut EP with 15 tracks that weave together historical influence and original compositions, including interpretations of medieval works like “Palästinalied”, originally by Walther von der Vogelweide.
The band explains that the album came together organically, drawing from a wide range of cultural and musical inspirations while staying true to their core instrumentation. The result is a deeply atmospheric and ritualistic listening experience, described as an “apicultural journey” through sound.
Having already appeared at major festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Summer Breeze Open Air, TABERNIS continue to build momentum as they prepare for the album’s release and an extensive 2026 festival run across Europe.

Seasons of the Dark Hive arrives this Friday, April 24.
