Finnish gothic rock icons The 69 Eyes have released their new EP, I Survive, via BLKIIBLK. The four-track collection is available now and features the previously unreleased song “In The Misery,” accompanied by a newly unveiled official visualizer.
The release continues the band’s celebrated blend of gothic atmosphere, glam rock swagger, and sleaze-infused hard rock that has defined their sound for more than three decades.
Speaking about “In The Misery,” frontman Jyrki 69 reflected on the song’s origins:
“That is biker rock by The 69 Eyes! Sons Of Anarchy was the biggest TV show those days when we recorded that track, and naturally inspired us a lot too. That was recorded with Slayer & Megadeth producer Matt Hyde in LA in 2009.”
Originally recorded in Los Angeles with acclaimed producer Matt Hyde, the track captures a period in the band’s history influenced by the gritty outlaw aesthetic that dominated popular culture at the time.
Formed in Helsinki in 1989, The 69 Eyes have maintained the same lineup throughout their career, earning a reputation as one of Finland’s most enduring rock exports. Often referred to as the “Helsinki Vampires,” the band has successfully blended gothic rock, glam metal, and hard rock across thirteen studio albums while achieving both gold and platinum success in their home country.
Among their most recognizable songs is “Lost Boys,” whose music video was directed by Bam Margera and remains a staple of Halloween-themed rock playlists worldwide.
The band’s most recent full-length release, Death Of Darkness, arrived in 2023, and The 69 Eyes have continued to tour extensively around the globe, maintaining a devoted international fanbase.
