The circle comes to a close today as THE HALO EFFECT release the fifth and final track from their anticipated cover EP We Are Shadows, out now. Each member selected a personal classic to reinterpret, and the final choice comes from drummer Daniel Svensson.
Svensson’s pick is a tribute to Gothenburg cult icons Broder Daniel, choosing their 2003 alternative-pop anthem “Shoreline”. THE HALO EFFECT transform the track into something unmistakably their own, a sweeping and emotional rendition driven by Mikael Stanne’s seamless blend of soaring cleans and signature growls.
Reflecting on his selection, Daniel Svensson says:
“Broder Daniel were one of the bands that created the Gothenburg indie-pop scene in the late ’90s. There are several parallels to the ‘Gothenburg Sound’ — both scenes were driven by a strong DIY ethos and comradeship while gathering international attention.”
