New York-based power metal band Them, formed in 2014, premiered their new single Catatonia on August 8, 2025, via Steamhammer/SPV’s YouTube channel, featuring a gripping lyric video that captures the abrupt end of a 17-year catatonic state. Watch it at:
From their fifth album Psychedelic Enigma, set for release on October 24, 2025, via Steamhammer/SPV, the track delivers furious, fast-paced riffs and a reminiscent of horror classics like The Others and The Sixth Sense, where a mysterious protagonist’s secret unfolds toward an epic finale. Guitarist Markus Ullrich highlights the album’s raw intensity and sound experiments, crediting legendary producer Randy Burns (Megadeth, Kreator) for its ultra-aggressive sound. Featuring vocalist KK Fossor, guitarists Markus Ullrich and Markus Johansson (Sylencer, 4ARM), bassist Alexander Palma, and keyboardist Richie Seibel (Lanfear, Ivanhoe), Catatonia reflects the band’s heightened dynamics and technical mastery, building on their prior works like Sweet Hollow (2016) and Fear City (2022).
