Finnish metal band Unén have unveiled their latest single, “Dancing In Flames,” marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter following the release of their 2025 debut album, Forever Winter. Accompanied by a high-energy music video, the track showcases a heavier, more confident side of the band while highlighting the dynamic vocal presence of frontwoman Stina Girs.

Girs, who first gained national recognition as a Top Five finalist on Idols Finland before embracing her passion for metal with Unén three years ago, penned the song’s lyrics. She describes “Dancing In Flames” as an anthem of resilience and self-discovery.
“When you’ve believed someone loved you and it turns out to have been a lie, the ground falls from beneath you. But when life hits hard, every scar makes you stronger, and you rise ready for the next battle. Then all you can do is dance in the flames.”
Written collaboratively by the entire band, the new single represents a natural evolution from Forever Winter. According to Unén, the goal was to push their sound further, blending rock-driven energy with atmospheric rhythms, infectious melodies, and a crushingly heavy midsection featuring growled vocals.
“We wanted to turn things up a notch, and ‘Dancing In Flames’ is the perfect example of that,” the band explains. “It showcases many sides of us: rock-driven intensity, rhythmic atmosphere, a catchy chorus, and, as the cherry on top, a truly heavy mid-section complete with growls.”
The accompanying music video, directed by Elsa Wellamo, opts for a performance-focused approach that matches the song’s explosive energy. Adding an artistic contrast, dancer Laura Zaray contributes a striking visual element that complements the band’s live performance scenes.
Interestingly, the name Unén originated from an early concept centered around dreams and dreamscapes. While the band’s lyrical direction has since evolved, the name remained, even as “Dancing In Flames” firmly plants itself in the realities of heartbreak, perseverance, and personal growth.
Throughout the summer, Unén will focus on completing their second studio album while preparing for a live performance in Helsinki on August 14.
