Formed in 2011, Wytch Hazel—Colin Hendra (guitar/vocals), Jack Spencer (drums), Alex Haslam (guitar), and Andy Shackleton (bass)—blends NWOBHM influences with folk-rock charm, often likened to a Plantagenet-era metal sound. “Woven,” a 4:37 galloping anthem, showcases their rustic, wholesome style with a pensive edge, its simplicity hiding layers that unfold with each listen. Hendra describes it as a heavy rock song about sensitivity, noting a dynamic shift where a quiet moment after the lyric “be sensitive” erupts into a shredding guitar solo—initially improvised, then meticulously relearned. Recorded live to capture the band’s synergy, the track reflects their growth since 2023’s IV: Sacrament.
For fans of Thin Lizzy or Wishbone Ash, “Woven” offers a heartfelt slice of medieval melancholy. Stream it now and pre-order the album!
