German heavy metal pioneers ACCEPT have launched their 50th anniversary celebration with a newly re-recorded version of their iconic speed metal anthem “Fast As A Shark,” featuring an all-star lineup that includes Phil Anselmo, Kirk Hammett, Mikkey Dee, and Billy Sheehan alongside ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann and vocalist Mark Tornillo.
The track serves as the first preview of Teutonic Titans 1976-2026, a massive retrospective release arriving September 4 via Napalm Records. The album commemorates five decades of ACCEPT’s influential career by reimagining 19 classic songs with contributions from 50 guest musicians spanning multiple generations of heavy metal.
Originally released on 1982’s landmark album Restless and Wild, “Fast As A Shark” is widely regarded as one of the foundational songs of speed metal. The newly recorded version maintains the track’s ferocious energy while bringing together some of metal’s most recognizable names for a celebratory performance.
“This song was so much fun,” said guitarist Wolf Hoffmann. “We even re-recorded the intro in a Bavarian oompah style. We were lucky to get Phil Anselmo on vocals, Billy Sheehan on bass, and of course Kirk Hammett on guitar, which is amazing, and Mikkey Dee on drums, so that’s a pretty nice supergroup, isn’t it?”
Hammett added, “A real honor to pay back the great inspiration ACCEPT had for me!”
More than a tribute album, Teutonic Titans 1976-2026 serves as a testament to ACCEPT‘s enduring impact on heavy metal. Led by Hoffmann, the collection revisits songs from the band’s formative era, spanning releases from I’m a Rebel (1980) through Eat the Heat (1989), with each track featuring a unique combination of guest performers.
Among the album’s standout collaborations, Tobias Forge delivers vocals on “Save Us,” joined by Korn drummer Ray Luzier, while Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford lends his unmistakable voice to “Balls to the Wall,” accompanied by Scorpions guitarist Matthias Jabs. Elsewhere, Billy Corgan and David Ellefson team up on “Love Child,” while additional appearances come from metal luminaries including K.K. Downing, Bobby Blitz, Hansi Kürsch, Chris Jericho, Ralf Scheepers, Ola Englund, Jeff Loomis, and many more.
The album also includes a special re-recording of “Hellhammer,” performed by ACCEPT‘s current lineup alongside Jason McMaster on vocals.
Speaking about the project, Hoffmann described it as the perfect way to commemorate the band’s milestone anniversary.
“There is no better way to celebrate this 50-year anniversary than to have our musical peers, friends, and inspirations come together with us to record these classic ACCEPT songs,” Hoffmann said. “I hope everyone enjoys this very special record as much as we all enjoyed making it.”
