Greek black metal mystics Acherontas have unleashed “The Chalice of Fiery Transmutation,” the second track from their forthcoming twelfth opus, ΝΕΚΥΙΑ – The Necromantic Patterns, set to premiere in full on April 29 via Black Metal Promotions. On Walpurgisnacht, April 30, Zazen Sounds and III Damnation Productions will officially release this ritualistic descent into the abyss.
“ΝΕΚΥΙΑ – The Necromantic Patterns” is a chthonic odyssey, tearing through mortality’s veils to reveal the hidden currents of existence. Rooted in the second wave of Hellenic black metal, Acherontas—spearheaded by V.P. Adept since 1996—infuses their sound with occult praxis, retro rock echoes, and Drakonian mysticism. This album, a ceremonial voyage through death and rebirth, invokes ancient wisdom and spectral echoes with tracks like “The Chalice of Fiery Transmutation,” brimming with divine memory and alchemical fire.
“The Serpent’s Oath binds us to dual wisdom, while the Oracles of the Abyss whisper forbidden truths,” the band states, hinting at the album’s esoteric depth. From the Eleventh Inversion’s plunge into the unknown to the Crimson Litany’s cycle of destruction and renewal, each hymn unlocks necromantic revelations, culminating in an ineffable truth beyond dogma.
