Melodic death metallers ANCIENT SETTLERS have announced Mylena Monaco as their new vocalist and unveiled the official video for “Through The Ruins,” the first song to feature Monaco behind the microphone.
The standalone single opens a new chapter for ANCIENT SETTLERS, who are currently working on their next studio album, scheduled for release in 2027 through Scarlet Records.
Monaco joined the band earlier this year and has already made her live debut with ANCIENT SETTLERS at the Female Fronted Violence Fest in Diest, Belgium.

A Brazilian-Italian extreme metal vocalist currently based in Germany, Monaco has been active since 2010 and brings extensive touring and studio experience across Europe and South America to the band.
She is best known as the founder and frontwoman of SINAYA, with whom she has toured internationally and shared stages with acts including Suffocation, Exodus, Amon Amarth, Abbath, Krisiun, Cavalera, and Primal Fear.
Monaco also performed at the inaugural Brazilian edition of Summer Breeze Festival and appeared as a special guest during Angra’s concert in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2024.
A New Chapter Begins With “Through The Ruins”
More than simply introducing a new vocalist, “Through The Ruins” reflects on the realities and sacrifices of life in the underground metal scene.
The song draws from years spent traveling endless miles, enduring cold nights in vans, relying on borrowed equipment, playing empty rooms, dealing with broken promises, and continuing forward despite an uncertain future.
Musically, “Through The Ruins” combines modern melodic death metal with dark guitar melodies, relentless rhythmic weight, dynamic vocals, and an anthemic chorus designed for the live setting.
Rather than romanticizing life on the road, the track acknowledges its difficulties while celebrating the friendships, venues, stages, and listeners that make those sacrifices worthwhile.
The song also represents the beginning of a new creative cycle for ANCIENT SETTLERS. The band channels the setbacks and experiences of its journey into a heavier and more direct approach as work continues on the follow-up to their previous material.
“Through The Ruins” is dedicated to the musicians, promoters, venues, friends, and fans who continue supporting underground music even when success is far from guaranteed. Its message is not simply about surviving difficult circumstances, but rebuilding from what remains.
The official video for “Through The Ruins” was created by Ruben Rosinos, while the single artwork was created by Jon Toussas.
