Austere Set to Release “The Stillness of Dissolution” on June 6

Australian depressive black metal duo Austere, featuring Mitchell Keepin (guitars, bass, keyboards, vocals) and Tim Yatras (drums, keyboards, vocals), will release their fifth album, The Stillness of Dissolution, on June 6, 2025, via Prophecy Productions. Announced on May 1, 2025, the album follows their 2024 release Beneath the Threshold and 2023’s Corrosion of Hearts, marking a darker shift in their sound while retaining their evolved style. The six-track record—featuring “Dissolved Exile,” “Time Awry,” “Redolent Foulness,” “The Downfall,” “Rusted Veins,” and “Storm within My Heart”—blends their early Norse black metal roots with emotive blackgaze elements.

Recorded, engineered, and mixed by Austere at Équinoxe Studios in Wollongong, Australia, the album was mastered by Yatras at the same studio. The artwork is by Keepin, with layout by Łukasz Jaszak. The Stillness of Dissolution explores themes of chaos, decay, and the abyss of time, described as a journey into the “black void.” It’s available for pre-order as a Digipak CD, marbled orange & black vinyl LP, and black vinyl at lnk.spkr.media/austere-dissolution. Austere, who reformed in 2021 after a 13-year hiatus, will support the release with a European tour in fall 2025, including a stop at Soulcrusher Festival on October 3 in Nijmegen, Netherlands, with more dates to be announced.
