Between the Buried and Me Drops Absent Thereafter and Announces Tour for The Blue Nowhere

American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me, formed in 2000 in Raleigh, has released their new single Absent Thereafter from their eleventh album The Blue Nowhere, out September 12, 2025, via InsideOutMusic. The 10-minute track, released July 24, 2025, blends funky jazz, heavy riffs, and Huey Lewis-inspired horns, capturing the band’s genre-defying chaos. “It’s fun, intense, spacy, and still fucking heavy,” says vocalist Tommy Rogers. Watch the visualizer:

Pre-order at betweentheburiedandme.com. Produced by Jamie King and mixed by Jens Bogren, The Blue Nowhere introduces strings and horns, a first for the quartet—Rogers (vocals/keys), Paul Waggoner (guitars), Dan Briggs (bass/keys), and Blake Richardson (drums). The album’s introspective lyrics, described as “journal entries,” reflect personal isolation, moving away from conceptual works like Colors II. The band embarks on a co-headlining North American tour with Hail The Sun starting September 14, 2025, in Philadelphia, featuring Delta Sleep (September 22–October 30) and The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die (September 14–21), with Florida stops on September 29 at Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale and September 30 at House of Blues in Orlando. Tickets are available at betweentheburiedandme.com.
