Changeling Unveils Eponymous Single and Visualizer from Upcoming Debut Album

Progressive metal project Changeling premiered their self-titled single, “Changeling,” along with an official visualizer on April 1, 2025, via Season of Mist. The track offers a glimpse into their debut album, also self-titled, set for release on April 25. The single is now streaming on platforms like YouTube and Bandcamp, where the album is available for pre-order.

Spearheaded by Berlin-based fretless guitar virtuoso Tom “Fountainhead” Geldschläger (ex-Obscura, Belphegor, Defeated Sanity), Changeling features an all-star lineup: Morean (Alkaloid, Dark Fortress) on vocals, Arran McSporran (Virvum, Vipassi) on fretless bass, and Mike Heller (Fear Factory, Raven, Malignancy) on drums. Geldschläger shared that the song originated from themes written on the oud, evolving into a dynamic piece with a unique structure—blending mid-tempo intensity with psychedelic, blast-beat-driven sections and a quasi-black metal crescendo. The album, a 60-minute concept work, merges progressive metal, death metal, jazz/fusion, and world music, featuring over 30 guest artists, including a 50-piece orchestra.

The “Changeling” visualizer complements the track’s expansive sound, reflecting the band’s genre-defying vision. With Geldschläger’s history of contributing to over 100 releases and his pioneering work in spatial audio, this project marks a bold new chapter. Stream the single now and pre-order the album to experience Changeling’s reality-warping sound.
