Irish black and death metal conjurers COSCRADH will return this winter with their second full length album Carving the Causeway to the Otherworld, due out February 20 via 20 Buck Spin. The record follows the band’s debut and pushes their savage, mystic-driven sound further into a realm of ancient war rites, cosmic symbolism, and violent spiritual reckoning.
Rooted deeply in Irish myth and druidic tradition, the album draws inspiration from the ancient wooden causeways once laid across Ireland’s peatlands by warring tribes. Those long buried paths become the symbolic foundation for the record, representing both physical routes across hostile terrain and spiritual gateways between life and death. Across eight tracks, COSCRADH channels those forgotten worlds into a brutal and otherworldly black death metal vision.
Musically, the band unleashes a relentless barrage of blasting drums, scorched tremolo riffs, and cavernous vocals that evoke ritualistic warfare and celestial omens. Guitars cut like meteors through a darkened sky, while the rhythmic backbone pounds with the force of hooves across dead soil. The result is a sound that feels both ancient and apocalyptic, driven by violence, mysticism, and cosmic dread.
The album’s lead single, “Caesar’s Revelation (Hibernia L. VI V. XIV ad XVI et XXIV)”, delivers one of the record’s central statements. The band uses it to reject imperial myth and Roman authority, positioning Ireland as unconquered in spirit. As the band declares, “No civilisation, no Roman decorum, they’re the emperors of nothing. Hibernia.”
Carving the Causeway to the Otherworld was recorded in 2025 at Sun Studios and Studio One Temple Bar in Dublin, with Shauny Cads handling recording and mixing at Last Light Recordings and Dan Lowndes mastering at Resonance Sound Studios. The album artwork was created by Stefan Todorović of Khaos Diktator Design, with layout by Chimère Noire Design and photography by Dylan Ownes. Guest musician Michał “The Fall” Stępień contributed ambient textures to several tracks, adding further atmosphere to the album’s ritualistic tone.
Fans of TEITANBLOOD, ANGELCORPSE, IMMORTAL, ABSU, MAYHEM, and BEHERIT will find plenty to embrace in COSCRADH’s ferocious yet mystical approach to black death metal.
20 Buck Spin will release Carving the Causeway to the Otherworld on LP, CD, cassette, and digital formats, with preorders available now. The band will also bring the album to the stage in 2026, with a confirmed appearance on April 17 in Granollers, Spain, and more dates to follow.
