World-renowned Brazilian death metal band Crypta has officially announced Victoria Villarreal as their new permanent guitarist, completing the band’s lineup alongside Fernanda Lira (bass, vocals), Luana Dametto (drums), and Tainá Bergamaschi (guitar).
Based in Los Angeles, Villarreal has built a strong presence in the original music scene as both a guitarist and vocalist. She is best known for fronting progressive death metal band, Syrebris and contributing to the collaborative project Chaos Rising Project. Her style—rooted in old-school and technical death metal—has already been showcased with Crypta during her previous appearances as a touring guitarist.
Villarreal will join the band for upcoming dates in Brazil and future tours, while also contributing to the writing of new material for the next chapter of Crypta.
Speaking on the announcement, Fernanda Lira shared:
“We are very happy to welcome Vicky to Crypta. Our chemistry is excellent both on and off stage, and her contribution to the band so far has been incredible. We are sure this will be a very amazing chapter for all of us!”
Formed in 2019 by former Nervosa members Fernanda Lira and Luana Dametto, Crypta has quickly established itself as a dominant force in modern death metal. Their latest album, Shades of Sorrow, released in August 2023, blends classic and contemporary death metal with elements of extreme and black metal.
After an extensive global run of shows and festival appearances, the band is preparing to close the Shades of Sorrow era with the “Shades of Sorrow: Final Rites – European Summer Tour 2026”. The tour features festival slots, headline dates, and appearances alongside Slaughter to Prevail, Kittie, and Sepultura, kicking off on June 5 at the Rage Against Racism Open Air in Duisburg.
