Blending cinematic atmosphere, punchy modern-metal riffing, and CYHRA’s signature melodic hooks, “Box With Spirits” pushes the band’s sound into darker, more introspective territory. The track cuts deep both musically and lyrically, exploring emotional suppression, the masks we wear, and the haunting weight of truths we hide from ourselves.
Frontman Jake E explains:
“‘Box with Spirits’ is about the architecture of avoidance—the little choices that stop us from being seen. The title plays on both ghosts and the solace of the liquor cabinet: bottles as companions for the things that haunt us. Hiding your heart in that same box can feel like protection, but it’s also a prison. The song is about finding the courage to open that lid and let what’s inside be found.”

Formed in 2016 by Jake E (AMARANTHE) and Jesper Strömblad (THE HALO EFFECT, formerly IN FLAMES), CYHRA quickly made their mark with their acclaimed 2017 debut Letters to Myself, followed by a massive North American tour supporting SABATON and KREATOR.
Their 2019 album No Halos in Hell cemented their status, powered by the 11-million-stream hit “Out Of My Life”. The band toured Europe with BATTLE BEAST, hit the UK with DELAIN, and appeared at major festivals including Masters of Rock, Bloodstock Open Air, Sabaton Open Air, and 70,000 Tons of Metal.
After guitarist Marcus Sunesson joined in 2020, the band crafted their third album The Vertigo Trigger (2023), before returning to the road for headline shows and a Scandinavian run with EVERGREY.
With momentum building toward their upcoming fourth album, CYHRA charge into 2025 with a renewed creative fire and two new singles “Superman” and “Skin From Bones”.
