Cleveland, Ohio power-thrash band DESTRUCTOR are set to return with their seventh studio album, Tales of Glory, arriving June 19 via Shadow Kingdom Records on CD and vinyl.
Formed in 1984, DESTRUCTOR quickly established themselves as one of America’s underground metal standouts with their debut album, Maximum Destruction. Their early momentum was tragically interrupted in 1988 when bassist Dave Holocaust was murdered, a devastating event that contributed to the collapse of a major label opportunity and eventually led to the band’s breakup in 1992.
Despite the setback, DESTRUCTOR reunited in 1999 and experienced a resurgence with releases including Sonic Bullet, Forever in Leather, the Storm of Steel EP, Back in Bondage, Decibel Casualties, and 2023’s Blood, Bone, and Fire. Their partnership with Shadow Kingdom Records has helped introduce the band to a new generation of metal fans.
According to vocalist and founding member Dave Overkill, Tales of Glory was a collaborative effort that brought together both current and former members of the band. Former guitarist Jamie Boulder, better known as Athenar, reunited with Overkill to write new material, while former member Nick Annihilator also contributed. Guitarist Mark Hellhound, bassist Tim Hammer, and drummer Matt Flammable each played significant roles in shaping the album.
Musically, Tales of Glory expands DESTRUCTOR’s trademark power-thrash attack with stronger traditional heavy metal and speed metal influences. Overkill describes the album as a collection of interconnected stories rather than a full concept record, with a heroic atmosphere reflected throughout its ten tracks.
Fans can stream the first single, “Harbinger of Death,” and pre-order the album through Shadow Kingdom Records’ Bandcamp page.
