Pacific Northwest black metal entity Hulder has unveiled “View From Nemeton,” the first single and music video from the forthcoming third full-length album, Verbolgen, set for release on August 7 through 20 Buck Spin in North America and Season of Mist throughout the rest of the world.

Serving as the opening chapter of the album’s campaign, “View From Nemeton” offers a glimpse into the ritualistic and atmospheric world that defines Hulder’s evolving sound. Filmed on analog formats amid the forests of the Pacific Northwest and created in collaboration with Liana Rakijian, the video embraces the project’s connection to nature, folklore, and the supernatural.

According to the band:

“Captured on analog mediums in the forests of the Pacific Northwestern landscape and woven together by Liana Rakijian and Hulder, ‘View From Nemeton’ serves as a glimpse from the eye of the otherworld.”

Lyrically, the song explores a sacred meeting place between the living and the dead, invoking ancient rites and mystical imagery. Built upon layered guitar work and dense atmospheric arrangements, the track incorporates recurring ritualistic chants before expanding into passages featuring hurdy-gurdy and keyboards, adding a ceremonial dimension to Hulder’s established black metal foundation.

A New Chapter for Hulder

Since emerging from the Pacific Northwest underground, Hulder has cultivated a devoted following through a series of releases rooted in traditional Northern European black metal while embracing a distinctly personal artistic vision. Verbolgen represents the project’s most expansive work to date, broadening its instrumental palette without sacrificing the raw intensity that has defined its earlier material.

Among the album’s notable collaborations is the inclusion of hurdy-gurdy performed by Keld, known for work with Majesties, Obsequiae, and Celestiial. Session drumming duties are shared by Vapula and Vrolok, the latter recognized for work with Aeternus and Gorgoroth.
