ALLEGAEON Unveil “Dark Matter Dynamics” Video, Announce Special Flatline Fest Performance with Adrian Bellue

Technical death metal innovators Allegaeon have released a new performance video for “Dark Matter Dynamics,” a standout track from their latest album, The Ossuary Lens, available now through Metal Blade Records.

The song features acclaimed guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Adrian Bellue, whose acoustic contributions help expand the band’s already diverse sonic palette. Captured by videographer Kyle Lamar, the performance clip arrives ahead of Allegaeon’s appearance at this weekend’s Flatline Fest in Denver, where Bellue will join the band onstage for a special live rendition of the track.

Lead guitarist Greg Burgess described “Dark Matter Dynamics” as a particularly meaningful composition.

‘Dark Matter Dynamics’ is a very special song for me. Having the opportunity to explore my love for steel string acoustic music and bringing it into the fold with ALLEGAEON will forever be a source of pride. Exploring this marriage of two styles with acoustic heavyweight Adrian Bellue was equally special.

Vocalist Ezra Haynes echoed that enthusiasm, highlighting both the friendship and musical chemistry between the band and Bellue.

“The chorus gets me hyped! I think it’s the most jump-worthy ALLEGAEON riff ever written,” Haynes said. “This song has that classic, science-based ALLEGAEON vibe and theme while showcasing the album’s range, letting a soulful, atmospheric instrumental piece contrast perfectly with the heavy riffs surrounding it.”

Flatline Fest Performance

The release of the video serves as a preview for Allegaeon’s upcoming appearance at Flatline Fest in Denver on June 15, where they’ll perform alongside fellow Metal Blade Records artists including Cattle Decapitation and The Zenith Passage.

A New Chapter for The Ossuary Lens

The Ossuary Lens marks several milestones for Allegaeon. While it stands as the band’s seventh full-length album, it also welcomes back original vocalist Ezra Haynes, who returned to the fold after departing following 2014’s Elements of the Infinite.

The album was once again recorded with longtime producer Dave Otero at Flatline Audio in Denver, marking the sixth collaboration between the band and Otero. The resulting record balances Allegaeon’s trademark technical precision with soaring melodies and atmospheric passages.

Critics have responded enthusiastically. Consequence praised Haynes’ return for adding further intensity to the band’s hyper-technical sound, while Decibel highlighted the group’s ability to craft accessible tech-death without sacrificing complexity. Additional acclaim came from Rock Hard Germany and Blabbermouth, with the latter calling the album “an astonishing piece of work.”

With “Dark Matter Dynamics,” Allegaeon continue to demonstrate the breadth of their songwriting, seamlessly weaving acoustic textures and progressive arrangements into their technically demanding death metal framework while celebrating the return of one of the band’s defining voices.
