Washington, D.C. death metal trio GOETIA are set to unleash their long-awaited debut full-length, Mortuary Cult, this Friday, June 12, through Carbonized Records. Ahead of its official release, the band has made the entire album available for streaming, giving listeners an early taste of its relentless blend of old-school death metal aggression and occult-inspired atmosphere.

Formed in the fall of 2022, GOETIA emerged from the creative partnership of bassist/vocalist Matt Scott and guitarist Demir Soyer, who previously played together in the D.C. death metal act Perpetuated. Drummer Nadia Tydings-Lynch joined after performing with the group during Perpetuated’s final show, with the chemistry between the trio leading directly to GOETIA’s formation.

Drawing influence from genre legends such as Morbid Angel, Terrorizer, and Kreator, the band quickly established itself with a trilogy of EP releases between 2023 and 2025, each exploring occult themes. Mortuary Cult expands on those foundations while introducing a more cohesive concept inspired by experiences in an old cemetery in the Washington, D.C. suburbs.

Musically, the album stays true toGOETIA‘s mission: fast-paced death metal packed with blistering guitar solos, pummeling blast beats, and savage riffs. The record was tracked by Matt Michel at Viva Studio and mixed by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios, with cover artwork by Chris Taylor and the band’s logo designed by Matt Scott.

To celebrate the album’s release, GOETIA will embark on a North American tour beginning June 19 in Pittsburgh and concluding July 4 in Huntington. The run includes stops across the United States and Canada before culminating in a hometown record release show at DC9 on July 10.
