Formed in Vienna in 2023 by Australian expatriate Brenton and three local conspirators, FESSUS quickly drew underground attention with their debut demo Pilgrims of Morbidity. Two years later, the band returns with their first full-length—a grotesque slab of rotten, groove-laden, mid-tempo death metal that pays homage to the Austrian pioneers of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s (Pungent Stench, Disharmonic Orchestra, Disastrous Murmur, Miasma) while carving a deranged identity of its own.
Subcutaneous Tomb embraces morbidity and macabre atmosphere over hyper-technicality, striking a balance of memorable riffs, crawling grooves, and bursts of aggression. Brenton’s unhinged vocal delivery, at times recalling Necrophagia’s Killjoy, drenches each track in bile and filth, cementing FESSUS as a new force of depravity in European death metal.

Subcutaneous Tomb Tracklist:
- Pointless Anguish [6:47]
- Asphyxiate in Exile [4:18]
- Cries from the Ether [7:14]
- The Depths of Lividity [4:56]
- Yizkor [6:37]
- Living Funeral [5:24]
For fans of Autopsy, Purtenance, and true rotten death metal, Subcutaneous Tomb is a must-listen, a new chapter of morbidity arising from Austrian soil.
