Hate Drops Title Track “Bellum Regiis” from New Album, Out May 2 via Metal Blade Records

Polish black/death metal veterans Hate have dropped the title track from their forthcoming thirteenth album, Bellum Regiis, set for release on May 2, 2025, via Metal Blade Records. Stream the track, watch its video on YouTube and pre-order the album on CD, digital, or limited vinyl variants (including 300 Silver Blackdust and 200 Gold Blackdust) at metalblade.com/hate.

Formed in Warsaw in 1990, Hate—vocalist/guitarist ATF Sinner, guitarist Domin, drummer Nar-Sil, and bassist Tiermes—delivers a bolder, more aggressive sound on Bellum Regiis, produced by David Castillo (Carcass, Katatonia) at Stockholm’s Grondahl Studio. This album explores humanity’s obsession with power, wealth, and glory, with lyrics drawing from Slavic and Greek mythology. The title, translating to “A War of Kings,” encapsulates this struggle, as Sinner notes: “‘Bellum Regiis’ has deep melancholy and grandeur, with Eliza Sacharczuk’s vocals adding a timeless quality.”

The nine-track album, featuring songs like “Iphigenia” and “Ageless Harp of Devilry,” blends eerie atmospheres, acoustic guitars, and black metal elements, echoing their 2010 record Erebos. Serpenth of Belphegor calls it a “crushing opus,” while Eleine’s Madeleine Liljestam praises its “captivating brutality.”

Hate kicks off a European tour with Venom Inc. and Krisiun on April 23 in Weinheim, Germany, followed by Latin American dates with Vltimas in October and Polish headlining shows in November. For fans of Behemoth, Decapitated, or Vader, Bellum Regiis is a must-hear. Stream it now and pre-order!
