US heavy and doom metal legend Scott “Wino” Weinrich, the unmistakable voice behind The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan, and Saint Vitus, has unleashed a brand new single, Anhedonia, taken from his forthcoming solo album Create Or Die, due out October 24th on Ripple Music.

With Create Or Die, his fourth solo full-length, Wino returns to electrified form. While 2020’s Forever Gone embraced raw acoustics, this new chapter is a thunderous statement that fuses hard rock grit, folk defiance, and doom-laden heaviness.
“At first, it was going to be an acoustic record, but I quickly realized these songs were screaming for drums and electric guitars,” Wino explains. “It is an accurate representation of how I feel and what I see in this time.”
The result is ten impassioned tracks that embody his personal mantra: create or die. “That simple slogan sums up my philosophy completely. Whether it’s making music or art, that’s what I do. It’s what I live for.”
Since forming The Obsessed in 1978, Wino has stood as one of the architects of doom and heavy rock. His early tenure with Saint Vitus produced the genre-defining Born Too Late (1986), a record that set him apart with his gritty, soulful vocal delivery.
Through the decades, Wino has continually reinvented himself — from the sludgy power of Spirit Caravan to high-profile collaborations, including Dave Grohl’s Probot project alongside Lemmy Kilmister, King Diamond, and Max Cavalera. His solo catalog, beginning with Punctuated Equilibrium (2009) and Adrift (2010), has further cemented his status as one of heavy music’s most uncompromising lifers.
In recent years, Wino has balanced his solo work with the resurrection of The Obsessed, who released Gilded Sorrow in 2023 to wide acclaim. Still, his solo output remains a vital outlet for unfiltered creativity, blending reflection with rebellion.
