UK “Death Pop” band HIGH PARASITE, fronted by Aaron Stainthorpe of My Dying Bride and Towards The Sinister, has released a new stand-alone single, “The Screams That Come,” via Spinefarm.
Produced by Gregor Mackintosh of Paradise Lost and mixed by Lawrence Mackrory, whose credits include Meshuggah and Katatonia, the track arrives as HIGH PARASITE prepares for a mainstage appearance at London Metalfest 2026 on September 12 at the Electric Ballroom in Camden.
“The Screams That Come” further develops the band’s self-described “Death Pop” sound, combining gothic darkness and heavy music with prominent hooks and melodic choruses.
“We’ve coined the term ‘Death Pop’ to define our music; we definitely have a strong affinity with all things gothic and dark, but at the same time we’re collectively drawn to strong hooks and melodies, to choruses that stick in the mind,” the band explains.
“I guess we walk a shadowy, sometimes twisted path between those two worlds; you can hear it on ‘The Screams That Come,’ and even more on the second album. It’s like the vampire’s smile: seemingly welcoming, at least at a distance, but boy, those teeth are razor sharp!”
HIGH PARASITE Heads to London Metalfest
HIGH PARASITE will perform on the mainstage at London Metalfest on September 12, appearing on a bill headlined by Swedish doom metal legends Candlemass.
The band will also visit Raven Records in Camden for a signing session at 7:30 PM, just a short walk from the Electric Ballroom.
The performance continues a busy live run for HIGH PARASITE following the release of their debut album, Forever We Burn, in September 2024. Since then, the five-piece has toured throughout the UK and Europe, joining major tours with Cradle Of Filth and Paradise Lost and appearing at festivals including Bloodstock, Rockstadt Extreme Fest, Brutal Assault, Eindhoven Metal Meeting, and Furiosfest.
Second HIGH PARASITE Album Is Complete
HIGH PARASITE has also confirmed that recording for its second studio album is now complete, with the record currently scheduled for release in early 2027.
While further details have yet to be revealed, the band suggests that the upcoming album will push its combination of gothic heaviness, melody, and “Death Pop” even further.
Before the year ends, HIGH PARASITE will headline a special Halloween show on October 31 at the Albany Arcade in Halifax, which is expected to be the band’s final live appearance of 2026.
