Extreme death metallers INFERI have announced their long-awaited new studio album, Heaven Wept, due out April 10, 2026 via The Artisan Era. Marking the band’s first full-length in five years, the record represents the longest gap between releases since their return in 2014—and their most ambitious and punishing material to date.
To coincide with the announcement, INFERI have dropped the album’s first single, “The Rapture of Dead Light”, alongside an unforgettable music video. The clip follows the band on an Indiana Jones–style expedition in search of the mythical battle-jacket–wearing Bigfoot, culminating in a headbanging showdown that proves even cryptids aren’t safe from Inferi’s razor-sharp riffs.
The band comments:
“We’re proud to announce our 2026 release, Heaven Wept. This album came together under challenging circumstances—after lineup changes, we rewrote material from the ground up and refined our sound with a renewed sense of purpose. The result is our most crushing and diverse record yet, pushing INFERI to new extremes while staying true to the melodic and technical foundation we’ve always built upon.”
Heaven Wept also serves as the final INFERI album featuring drummer Spencer Moore, recorded before his move to Archspire. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by longtime collaborator Mike Low, whose deep familiarity with the band helped shape the new lineup’s chemistry into a devastating whole.
Musically, Heaven Wept continues where 2021’s Vile Genesis left off—blending virtuosic technicality, sweeping orchestration, and unrelenting brutality into a masterclass of progressive extreme metal. The artwork was created by Helge C. Balzer.
INFERI are currently touring EU/UK in support of CRYPTOPSY, alongside 200 Stabwounds and Corpse Pile, and will also appear at Flatline Festival (June 13–14) in Denver, CO.
