Memento Mori, in alliance with Me Saco Un Ojo Records, have confirmed January 26th, 2026 as the international release date for Nocturnal Visions, the highly anticipated second album from Japanese death metal force Invictus. Memento Mori will release the album on CD, while Me Saco Un Ojo will handle the vinyl edition.
Formed in Nagano City in 2015, Invictus set out to craft death metal laced with technical flashes and a razor-sharp thrash undercurrent. Drawing from the primal grooves and malevolent aura of the genre’s early bands, Death, Morbid Angel, Gorguts, Brutality, Obituary, Mercyless, Monstrosity, Sadistic Intent, early Decapitated and Cannibal Corpse, the band has always prioritized commanding, riff-driven songwriting above all else.
A formidable step beyond 2020’s debut The Catacombs of Fear, the new album radiates a sinister atmosphere rooted in the spirit of death metal’s past while pushing its brutality forward. Guitars discharge searing waves of arcane malignance, drums batter the listener with relentless force, and vocals anchor the chaos with cavernous, corpse-rattling depth. The production remains raw yet punishing, organic, lethal, and perfectly suited to the band’s putrid vision.
Despite the sheer weight and speed of their execution, Invictus navigate the album with precise, unerring control. Their influences are present only as distant specters, twisted and reshaped into something unmistakably their own. With gripping compositions, authoritative riffcraft, and artwork by the renowned Juanjo Castellano, Nocturnal Visions stands as a proud entry into the lineage of true, morbid death metal.
