Brazilian progressive metal band Maestrick has released their new album Espresso Della Vita: Lunare today, May 2, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl. Alongside the 12-track album, they’ve dropped a music video for the focus track “Boo! (feat. Tom Englund),” which the band describes as a horror-inspired piece set in a haunted mansion. The song, the heaviest on the album, blends Black Sabbath-esque riffs with pipe organ, theremin, screams, and trap beats, featuring Evergrey’s Tom Englund as the Spirit of Vengeance. Order the album and watch the video at the provided links.

The album completes a two-part concept started with 2018’s Espresso Della Vita: Solare, using a 24-hour train journey as a metaphor for life. Lunare explores the nighttime phase, tackling themes like addiction, racial prejudice, abuse, and the Holocaust, culminating in the reveal of the protagonist, Dante, symbolizing life’s cycles of paradise, purgatory, and hell. Vocalist Fábio Caldeira calls it their most ambitious work yet, emphasizing their role as musical storytellers. Tracks like “Agbara” (feat. Jim Grey of Caligula’s Horse) and “Lunar Vortex” (feat. Roy Khan, ex-Kamelot) showcase their eclectic style, fusing Afro-Brazilian rhythms, swing, and symphonic metal.
Formed in 2006 in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil, Maestrick—Fábio Caldeira (vocals, piano, synths), Guilherme Carvalho (guitars), Renato “Montanha” Somera (bass), and Heitor Matos (drums)—draws from rock, metal, Brazilian music, and cinematic influences, captivating fans of Tim Burton, Dream Theater, and Queen. They’ll perform at Bangers Open Air in São Paulo tonight, May 2, as a “warm-up” show, followed by festival dates May 3-4.
