Dublin-based blackened death metal band Malthusian—MB (guitar, vocals), TMK (guitar), FB (bass), JK (drums)—has signed with Relapse Records and announced their sophomore album, The Summoning Bell, for release on August 8, 2025. The band unveiled the title track’s music video, directed by Ray K Media, on June 17, 2025.

The Summoning Bell delivers unrelenting death metal with swirling chords, blastbeats, and murky riffs, opening with Red, Waiting and spanning eight tracks of suffocating fury. The album explores themes of nothingness, superstition, and a descent into darkness, as MB quotes Samuel Beckett: “We always find something… to give us the impression we exist.”
