Monstrosity unleash “The Atrophied”; Screams From Beneath The Surface out March 13 + European tour announced

US death metal veterans Monstrosity have released “The Atrophied”, the latest single from their upcoming full length Screams From Beneath The Surface, set for release March 13 via Metal Blade Records. The record marks the band’s first studio album in seven years and finds them sounding as savage and focused as ever.

Led by founding drummer and primary songwriter Lee Harrison, the band returns with a revitalized lineup that includes longtime guitarist Matt Barnes, the return of original bassist Mark Van Erp, and vocalist Ed Webb, formerly of Massacre. Together, they channel Monstrosity’s trademark mix of blistering aggression and technical precision while pushing their sound into darker and more dynamic territory.

According to Harrison, “The Atrophied” captures all the hallmarks of classic Monstrosity, Lyrically, the song unfolds as a haunting narrative of decay and collapse, framed by a forceful production split between Audiohammer Studios and Morrisound Recording.

Barnes adds that although the song began in skeletal form, it evolved into something unexpectedly epic once the band locked into it together. While condensed and unapologetically death metal, he compares its emotional scope to the grand arcs of Rush or Iron Maiden, delivered with Monstrosity’s trademark intensity.

Screams From Beneath The Surface was produced with Jason Suecof at Audiohammer handling drums, bass, and mixing, while guitars, vocals, and mastering were completed at Morrisound alongside revered producer Jim Morris. The album artwork, created by Timbul Cahyono, is a fully organic piece that reflects the raw and uncompromising spirit of the music.

The album will be available on CD, digital formats, and multiple vinyl variants, including exclusive color editions. Preorders are live now at metalblade.com/monstrosity.

Monstrosity will support the release with the Screams Across Europe Tour 2026, kicking off April 18 and featuring support from Bio-Cancer, Reject The Sickness, and Deadwood on select dates. The run will see the band storm stages across Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and beyond.

With “The Atrophied”, Monstrosity prove that after decades at the forefront of American death metal, their ferocity remains undiminished, sharper, heavier, and more relentless than ever.
