Portuguese gothic metal band MOONSPELL have released the official music video for their brand-new single “Cross Your Heart,” the opening track from their forthcoming studio album Far From God, due July 3 via Napalm Records.

Following the strong reception of the album’s title track, “Far From God,” the band continues to unveil the darker conceptual world of the record with “Cross Your Heart,” a melancholic gothic metal hymn that blends classic MOONSPELL atmosphere with a sharper, modern edge.
The track explores themes of mortality, memory, and the emotional weight of life spent in motion. Driven by brooding melodies and grounded riffing, “Cross Your Heart” reflects on roadside memorials and the fragile permanence of human loss.
Frontman Fernando Ribeiro comments on the song:
“Reminiscent of Irreligious with a modern and dark twist, this gothic metal song tells us about the shrines that we can frequently find on the roads of all countries in the world… erected as a painful memory to those who departed in car and bike crashes, often too soon, every time too painfully.”
Born from five years of creative searching and reinvention, Far From God marks a renewed artistic statement for MOONSPELL. Rather than relying on nostalgia, the album embraces identity and evolution, blending gothic romance, existential themes, and mythological imagery into a cohesive modern vision.
Produced by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Paradise Lost, Ghost, Sólstafir), the record is described as both cinematic and emotionally unfiltered, reconnecting with the darker essence of the band’s classic era while maintaining a contemporary sonic impact.
