MYTHICALL Release “Song Of Durin” Music Video In Tribute To J.R.R. Tolkien

Spanish ensemble MYTHICALL have released the official music video for “Song Of Durin,” a musical and visual journey into the depths of Middle-earth inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendary mythology.

The video arrives today, September 2, marking the 53rd anniversary of Tolkien’s death and serving as a tribute to the author whose work lies at the heart of MYTHICALL’s creation.

Inspired by the song sung by Gimli about the ancient glory of Khazad-dûm, “Song Of Durin” transforms the nostalgic grandeur of Tolkien’s words into an atmospheric journey through the soul of Middle-earth. The accompanying video was filmed among the majestic landscapes of the Navarrese and Aragonese Pyrenees, providing a natural backdrop for the song’s themes of memory, loss and enduring hope.

Beneath its longing for the beauty of an ancient world, MYTHICALL describes the piece as carrying an unwavering light of hope — reflecting both the melancholy and timeless sense of wonder found throughout Tolkien’s work.

MYTHICALL is a recently formed quartet featuring musicians with extensive backgrounds spanning performance, composition, production, musical direction, education and outreach.

The group’s name is a play on words that can be interpreted as “the call of the mythical.” For MYTHICALL, answering that call means embracing the creative impulse to expand the story of human existence and our perception of the world through music and other artistic disciplines.

Their artistic vision extends beyond traditional concerts into fully realized stage productions incorporating elements such as dance, poetry, theatrical props and lighting design.

Although MYTHICALL was originally created around the development of a performance based on the poems and songs of Tolkien, the quartet intends to continue exploring other themes through future projects.
