Maryland death/thrash band NINTH REALM will release its sophomore full-length album, Damnation’s Veil, on August 28 through Transcending Obscurity Records. Blending death metal, thrash, metallic hardcore, black metal, and traditional heavy metal, the new record marks the band’s latest evolution since forming in 2019.
Ahead of the album’s release, NINTH REALM has unveiled three preview tracks: “Cohorts of the Abyss,” “Damnation’s Veil,” and “Rituals in Thar’amath,” offering listeners an early look at the band’s aggressive and diverse approach.
Damnation’s Veil was recorded between April and July 2025. Drums, guitars, and bass were tracked with producer Matthew Michel at Viva Studios in Fairfax, Virginia, while vocalist Ben Hageage recorded his performances with Sebastian Philips at his home studio in Dundalk, Maryland.
The album artwork was created by Jerry “Wyrmwalk” Hionis, whose previous work includes releases by FROZEN SOUL, MORGUL BLADE, HIGH COMMAND, and MAUL.
To celebrate the release, NINTH REALM has announced two hometown events in Washington, D.C. An album listening party will take place on August 29 at Lyman’s Tavern, followed by an official album release show on October 9 at Pie Shop.
Drawing inspiration from bands such as BOLT THROWER, MERCYFUL FATE, POWER TRIP, CELTIC FROST, BATHORY, DISSECTION, AUTOPSY, and CANDLEMASS, the band continues to build upon the fantasy-driven universe of Tythorin, an original setting created by drummer Joey Burke. The conceptual world explores themes of vengeance, fate, grief, trauma, and perseverance, providing the lyrical foundation for the group’s music.

Founded in Maryland’s DMV region in 2019, NINTH REALM has steadily expanded its catalog with demos, EPs, splits, compilations, and its debut full-length. The current lineup features vocalist Ben Hageage, lead guitarist Liam McMahon, rhythm guitarist Charles House, bassist Amelia Morris, and drummer Joey Burke.
