Rome’s blackened death metal force Patristic will release their debut full-length, Catechesis, on June 20, 2025, through Willowtip Records, available on vinyl, CD, and digital formats. Following their 2022 EP Apologetica, the album delves into the clash of Roman paganism and early Christianity, painting a sonic tapestry of chaos and decay. The lead single, “Catechesis I,” premiered via a video at toiletovhell.com/exclusive-track-premiere-patristics-catechesis-i, hits digital platforms April 18, with album pre-orders launching the same day at patristic.bandcamp.com.
Crafted by E.S. (guitars, bass, samples, arrangements), Sathrath (drums), L.S. (vocals), and T.V. (bass), Catechesis was recorded with drums by Stefano Morabito at 16th Cellar Studios, vocals by Davide Gorrini at BeastCave Studio, and mixed/mastered by Michael Zech at The Source Studios. With artwork by Manuel Scapinello and layout by Dema Novakova, the album’s concept—rooted in Patristics, the study of early Church Fathers—evokes the fall of Rome’s opulence under the cross’s shadow.
