Independent black metal band PROFANE ELEGY have unveiled “Immutable”, a bleak and unflinching new track that confronts the inescapable realities of human inheritance and cosmic fate. The song is now available alongside an official video and serves as the latest preview of the band’s forthcoming album Herezjarcha, due out January 30, 2026.
“Immutable” explores the darker attributes and conditions etched into human existence at birth. The song reflects on the idea that life unfolds within a cruel balance of blessing and curse, shaped by cosmic chance long before individual will can take hold. While change and growth remain possible, the track emphasizes an unsettling truth: some aspects of darkness can never be erased, only recognized and endured.
Musically, “Immutable” captures PROFANE ELEGY at their most focused and severe. Raw black metal ferocity collides with a brooding, contemplative atmosphere that mirrors the song’s philosophical weight. Aggression and introspection move in tandem, reinforcing the sense of inevitability and decay that defines the track’s core message.
“Immutable” stands as both a personal reckoning and a universal meditation on fate, limitation, and the boundaries of transformation. It offers a stark glimpse into the thematic and sonic depth of Herezjarcha, an album that promises to further expand the band’s exploration of existential dread and spiritual defiance.
For listeners drawn to uncompromising black metal that confronts existence without illusion, “Immutable” is a haunting introduction to what lies ahead.
PROFANE ELEGY is a black metal band from Bangor, Pennsylvania, formed in late 2021 by guitarist J Gulick and vocalist Mikael L. Initially conceived as a two-man studio project, the band evolved into a full lineup in 2023 with the addition of bassist David G and drummer Sean M. While firmly rooted in black metal, their sound reaches beyond strict genre boundaries, incorporating elements of death, doom, and progressive metal, often enhanced by orchestral arrangements and clean vocal passages.
Their independently released debut album When All Is Nothing (2023) gained attention for its balance of atmospheric aggression and emotional vulnerability, earning praise for its fluid movement between blistering intensity and melancholic melody. Following the album’s release, PROFANE ELEGY made their live debut and began performing throughout the northeastern United States, including a notable support slot for Dark Funeral in late 2024.
Lyrically, the band delves into themes of nihilism, mortality, philosophy, and religious symbolism. Figures such as Satan are used not as dogma, but as metaphors within a broader existential and spiritual framework. Their work is poetic, introspective, and confrontational, challenging listeners to face uncomfortable truths about belief, death, and identity.

Their upcoming album Herezjarcha, named after the Polish translation of the word “heresiarch”, represents the band’s most ambitious effort to date. With expanded orchestration, deeper conceptual focus, and a more dynamic sound, the record embodies the band’s rebellious and questioning spirit.
