Finno-American blackened death metal band Proscription, formed in 2017 in Helsinki, has announced their second album Desolate Divine, set for release on August 29, 2025, via Dark Descent Records. The nine-track album merges primal repugnancy with hypnotic songcraft, described by Christbutcher (guitar, vocals) as revealing the band’s “terrifying true form” after their debut Conduit was limited by the pandemic.
Featuring Christbutcher, Cruciatus (lead guitar, ex-Lantern), Apep (bass, vocals), and M.K. (drums, ex-Maveth), Desolate Divine balances calculated, multi-layered offensives with chaotic berserker energy, showcasing exceptional musicianship. The lead single Gleam of the Morningstar is streaming on YouTube.
Pre-order on CD, vinyl, cassette, and digital at darkdescentrecords.com or darkdescentrecords.bandcamp.com. The album’s visual hellscape, crafted by Samuel Araya (CD) and Artem Grigoriev (vinyl), depicts a desolate Behemoth in a bleak sandstorm, reflecting themes of lost ascension. Recorded at Sonic Violence Studio in Varkaus by Kalle Laanto and mixed/mastered by Dave Otero at Flatline Studios.
